Wheel Bearing: Removal and Replacement

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
‹› Ball joint puller (T10187)
Removing
-
Remove drive axle. Refer to => [ Drive Axle ] See: Axle Shaft Assembly/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Front Suspension/Drive
Axle.

Loosen nut on lower control arm and press off ball stud using (T10187).

Remove nut.
-
Remove wheel bearing housing.
Installing
Installation is the reverse of removal, with special attention to the following:

Install drive axle. Refer to => [ Drive Axle ] See: Axle Shaft Assembly/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Front Suspension/Drive
Axle.
Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Lower Control Arm, Wheel Bearing Housing, Wheel Hub and Wheel Bearing Assembly Overview ] See:

‹› Bonded rubber bushings can only be turned to a limited extent. Only tighten suspension bolts when vehicle is in curb weight or control position.
‹› Wheel bearing, lifting to curb weight position on vehicles with coil springs. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing, with Coil Spring, Lifting to Curb Weight
