Install the Crankshaft Holder (3242) into the hole and tighten it to 20 Nm. If necessary rotate the crankshaft very slightly back and forth to
completely center the holder.

The rest of the installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

‹› After installing camshafts, do not crank engine for at least 30 minutes. The hydraulic adjusting elements must seat themselves (otherwise the

valves will seat themselves on the pistons).

‹› After working on the valvetrain, carefully rotate engine by hand at least 2 full revolutions to ensure that valves do not strike the pistons when

starting.

Mount the camshaft timing chains on the camshafts. Refer to => [ Installing ] .

Install left and right timing chain covers => [ Installing ] See: Timing Components/Timing Cover/Service and Repair/Left and Right Timing Chain

Install cylinder head cover. Refer to: Left => [ Left Cylinder Head Cover ] See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Valve Cover/Service and Repair/Left
Cylinder Head Cover, right => [ Right Cylinder Head Cover ] See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Valve Cover/Service and Repair/Right Cylinder Head
