Front passenger airbag unit

CAUTION:
-

Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.

-

Note assignment of airbag unit to instrument panel Parts Catalog.

-

Removal:

-

Disconnect the battery ground (GND) strap.

-

Remove glove compartment.

-

Disconnect connector behind airbag unit

CAUTION:  Connector - 5 - (2-pin, red) on passenger airbag unit must not be disconnected under any circumstances.

-

Remove brace behind airbag unit.

-

Remove nut - 3 - (Qty. 4).

-

Remove airbag unit.

-

Lay airbag unit so padding faces upward.

-

Installing:

CAUTION:  Note assignment of airbag unit to instrument panel Parts Catalog.

-

Install airbag unit.

-

Ensure connector behind airbag unit engages completely (audibly)

-

Turn on ignition.

CAUTION:  No one should be in vehicle when connecting battery.

-

Connect battery ground (GND) strap.

NOTE:
-

Follow safety measures after connecting battery.

-

If the Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K75 shows a malfunction after assembly, DTC memory must be checked with Vehicle
Diagnostic, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 A, cleared and then rechecked.
