Steering Column Control Module: Description and Operation
General Information
CAUTION:
Before beginning repairs on the electrical system:

Switch off all electrical consumers.

Switch the ignition off and remove ignition key.

Disconnect negative (-) battery terminal.

Prior to disconnecting vehicle battery on vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar (R), switch-off the emergency (back-up) battery for
Telephone/Telematics Control Module J526.

After reconnecting vehicle battery on vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar(R), switch-on the emergency (back-up) battery for
Telephone/Telematics Control Module J526.

When disconnecting and reconnecting battery terminals, observe all applicable Notes and torque specifications, as well as instructions on
performing OBD program and electrical system function checks as specified in
The steering column electronics control module J527 is part of the "steering column switch module". It receives signals e.g. from the steering column
switch.
The steering column electronics control module J527 can be tested via the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
To do so, use the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.
