Preparing For Window Installation

Undamaged removed window

NOTE:

-

When reusing an undamaged window, smoothly cut back residual adhesive sealing material on window and flange using VAG1510 and
VAG1510/8 scraper; do not remove completely!

-

The residual material acts as a base for the new adhesive sealing material.

-

Keep adhesive surface free of dirt and grease.

-

Do not prime or use a cleaning solution on the adhesive surface.

NOTE:  If the window flange was damaged during removal, the paint structure should be repaired and if necessary, corrosion repair measures should be
taken.

New window glass

-

Clean adhesive area of glass all around using glass cleaner D 009 401 04.

-

Prime adhesive area of glass all around using primer D 009 200 02.

CAUTION:  The ceramic application on the windshield is not primed! It is essential that you prime the surface before applying adhesive
material.

Allow primer to air dry for approx. 10 minutes.

NOTE:  Do not touch up primer strip until after primer has thoroughly dried.

Apply primer - 2 - D 009 200 02 using applicator - 1 - part no. D 009 500 25 (felt ball and wire) around circumference and between markings on
glass.
Primer width: 22 mm

CAUTION:  Contact between primer/adhesive bead and wiring for rear window defrost must be avoided during primer application. For
new replacement windows, an adhesive stopper guide is attached next to the wiring for this reason.
