Upper A-Pillar Trim

Upper A-Pillar Trim

‹› Removal and installation are same for right and left.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Trim removal wedge (3409)

Removing

CAUTION!
Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.

Carefully unclip the cap - 1 - with the "Airbag " symbol from the upper A-pillar trim using a screwdriver.

Remove the bolt - 2 -.

-

Carefully unclip the upper A-pillar trim - 3 - beginning at the top using a Trim Removal Wedge (3409) - arrow A -.

-

Pull the upper A-pillar trim out of the instrument panel - arrow B - and remove.

Installing

CAUTION!
‹› Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.

‹› Do not pinch the side curtain airbag when installing the upper A-pillar trim.

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

‹› If the trim clamps remain in the body mounting points, remove them and insert them in the trim.

‹› Check clamps for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.

Remove any locking compound residue inside the threaded hole for the upper A-pillar trim bolt using a thread tap.

‹› If the threaded hole is not cleaned, the new bolt could seize up during installation and shear off when removed again.

Insert the upper A-pillar trim - 1 - into the instrument panel mount - 2 - and the lower A-pillar trim - direction of the arrow -.
