Remove the bolts - 1 -.

Disconnect connectors on connector station. Refer to => [ Connectors, Disconnecting and Connecting ] See: Seats/Service and Repair/Removal
and Replacement/Manual Standard Front Seats.

Connect Airbag Adapter (VAS 6281). Refer to => [ Airbag Adapter, Connecting ] See: Seats/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Manual Standard Front Seats.

Raise the front seat with a 2nd technician and remove it from the vehicle.

Attach front seat to Fixture For Seat Repair (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on VAS 6136 ] See: Seats/Service and
Repair/Removal and Replacement/Seat Versions Overview.

Replace the memory seat adjustment/steering column control module. Refer to => [ Memory Seat/Steering Column Adjustment Control Module ].

Installing

CAUTION!
‹› Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.

‹› Before handling pyrotechnic components (e.g. connecting the electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static

electricity ". This can be done by touching door striker, for example.

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

Remove Airbag Adapter (VAS 6281) only after installing front seat => [ Airbag Adapter, Connecting ] See: Seats/Service and Repair/Removal
and Replacement/Manual Standard Front Seats.

Connect the connector to the couplings on the connector station in the floor. Refer to => [ Connectors, Disconnecting and Connecting ] See:
Seats/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Manual Standard Front Seats.

‹› Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.

CAUTION!
Ignition must be on when connecting battery. If pyrotechnic components (e.g. airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly, they may
deploy unintentionally after connecting battery. There must not be anyone inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
