‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1332)
‹› Assembly Tool (V.A.G 1332/9)
‹› Camshaft Clamp (T40070), qty. 2
‹› Locking Pin (T40071), qty. 2
‹› Wrench (T40079)
‹› Counterhold Tool (T10172) with (10172/7)
Removing
‹› The camshaft timing chains stay on the engine in the following description.

Remove cylinder head cover. Refer to => [ Left Cylinder Head Cover ] See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Valve Cover/Service and Repair/Left
Cylinder Head Cover for the left and => [ Right Cylinder Head Cover ] See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Valve Cover/Service and Repair/Right
Cylinder Head Cover for the right.

Remove timing chain cover. Refer to => [ Left Timing Chain Cover ] See: Timing Cover/Service and Repair/Left Timing Chain Cover for the left
and => [ Right Timing Chain Cover ] See: Timing Cover/Service and Repair/Right Timing Chain Cover for the right.

Rotate the crankshaft in the direction of engine rotation with the Counterhold Tool (T10172) with (T10172/7) to "TDC".
‹› The threaded holes - arrows - in the camshafts must face upward.
