Seat Belt Tensioner: Service and Repair

Front Three-Point Seat Belt with Belt Tensioner

‹› Removal and installation are same for right and left.

Removing

CAUTION!
‹› Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.

‹› Follow the disposal regulations for pyrotechnic components, refer to => [ Pyrotechnic Restraint System Component Disposal ] See:

Service and Repair.

Switch the ignition on.

-

Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition switched on.

Remove the front belt anchor, refer to => [ Front Belt Anchor ].

Remove side trim, refer to => [ Side Trim ] See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Trim Panel/Service and Repair/Interior Trim. 

CAUTION!
Before handling pyrotechnic components (e.g. disconnecting the electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static
electricity ". This can be done by touching door striker, for example.

Release the connectors using a small screwdriver - 2 - and disconnect the belt force limiter connector - 1 - and belt tensioner igniter 1 - 4 -.

Removing B-pillar trim, refer to => [ B-Pillar Trim ] See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Trim Panel/Service and Repair/Interior Trim.

Thread belt webbing out of B-pillar trim.

-

Remove belt relay anchorage point - 3 -.

-

Remove the bolt - 5 - and the belt tensioner from the mount.
