Fuel Level Signal: Testing and Inspection
With Manufacturer's Scan Tool
Fuel level signal, checking
Test is valid only for vehicles up to m.y. 2000.
If the "fueling pump" symbol lights up in instrument cluster (customer requested to fill up), fuel level signal is sent to Engine Control Module (ECM).
Fuel level signal and left heated door lock control module -G210- are evaluated in Engine Control Module (ECM) in order to be able to shut off engine
running with empty tank.

Connect VAG1598/31 test box at wiring harness to Engine Control Module (ECM), do not connect ECM. See: Testing and Inspection/Scan Tool

Test Box
The following wire connections must be checked for short circuit to B+, short circuit to Ground (GND) and for open circuit:

Wire resistance: max: 1.5 Ohm

Repair open circuit or short circuit if necessary.
