Air Injection Vacuum Control Solenoid Valve: Testing and Inspection
With Manufacturer's Scan Tool

Secondary Air Injection (AIR) solenoid valve -N112-, checking

-

Connect vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 or V.A.G 1551 Scan Tool and select engine electronics control unit with
"Address word" 01. For this purpose, ignition must be switched on. 

-

Start Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) and activate secondary air injection solenoid valve.

Output Diagnostic Test Mode

Secondary air injection solenoid valve -N112-

Secondary air injection solenoid valve must click. 

If the secondary air injection solenoid valve does not click:

-

Disconnect 2-pin connector from solenoid valve. 

-

Connect diode test lamp VAG 1527 to disconnected connector using test leads from VAG 1594. 

-

Repeat Output DTM.                                           

If the diode test lamp now flashes during the DTM:

-

Replace secondary air injection solenoid valve. 

If the diode test lamp still does not flash: 

-

Switch ignition off. 

-

Connect test box VAG 1598/31 to wiring harness for engine control module; do not connect engine control module.

-

Check for open circuit in following wiring connections:

2-pin connector on 
wiring harness, socket

Test box VAG 1598/31 socket

Wire resistance: max. 1.5 Ohm

If no wiring malfunction is detected: 

-

Check voltage supply for secondary air injection system according to wiring diagram:

-

Read readiness code. Generate readiness code again if DTC memory was erased.
