Brake Caliper: Service and Repair

Brake caliper, rear, repairing
CAUTION: During repairs, always install all parts of repair kit.
New brake calipers are filled with brake fluid and pre-bled.
In case of repair, brake calipers must be bled before installing in vehicle (without brake pads) ~ Fig. 6.
Note:
Coat brake cylinder piston and seals lightly with brake assembly lube.
1. Self-locking bolt
Always replace
35 Nm (26 ft lb)
Hold guide pin when loosening and tightening
2. Brake caliper housing with lever for parking brake cable
Replace brake caliper housing if there is leaking at parking brake cable lever
After repairing, pre-bleed brake caliper housing ~ Fig. 6
3. Bleeder valve
Coat threads lightly with brake cylinder paste
4. Dust cap
Install on bleeder valve
5. Piston seal
Remove with a screwdriver ~ Fig. 3
6. Piston with automatic adjusting device
Turn out of brake caliper housing Fig. 1
Turn into brake caliper housing ~ Fig. 5
Diameter: 38 mm (1.50 in) or 43 mm 11.69 in)
7. Guide pin
Lubricate protective cap before installing
8. Piston outer seal
Install on piston ~ Fig. 2

Install onto brake pad carrier and guide pins
