Barometric Pressure Sensor: Description and Operation
Barometric Pressure Sensor 20V
The Barometric Pressure Sensor is located at the top of the Motronic control module.
The barometric pressure sensor informs the Motronic ECM of the current barometric pressure. At altitudes above 3200 feet (low air pressure) the
charge pressure is reduced to avoid overrevving of the turbocharger.
At altitudes above 10,000 feet the charge pressure control system is switched off.
The barometric pressure sensor also influences cold starting at higher altitudes. The reason for this is to avoid starting problems (flooding) at extremely
low temperatures and at high altitude.
