Canister Purge Regulator Valve: Description and Operation
Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Regulator Valve
The EVAP canister purge regulator valve is located next to the intake manifold, near the idle air control valve. The evaporative emission purge
regulator valve regulates the amount of fuel vapors that enter the intake manifold when the engine is operating. The valve remains open when no current
is applied (engine OFF).
The purge regulator valve will start to operate when the oxygen sensor starts working.
When the engine is shut OFF, the purge regulator valve remains closed for several seconds so the engine will not diesel (after run). Power for this
purpose is supplied via the holding relay inside the Motronic control module.
