2-Pin Connector

Reconnect LED tester between terminal 1 of wastegate by-pass regulator valve connector, and engine GND.
-
Initiate Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM)

LED tester must light up.
Note:
Positive voltage must be available at terminal 1 of wastegate bypass regulator valve connector, regardless of which Output DTM is called up.
If LED tester does NOT light up:
-
Connect Test Box to Engine Control Module (ECM) wiring harness using VAG 1598/5 adapter cable. Refer to VAG 1598 Pin Out Box

ECM remains disconnected.
Engine Control Module Harness Connector

Check continuity between terminal 1 of wastegate bypass regulator valve connector, and Test Box terminal 37, using wiring diagram.

Must be 1.0 ohm maximum.
If circuit is open:
-
Repair wiring between terminal 37 of ECM connector, and terminal 1 of wastegate bypass regulator valve connector.
If continuity is OK:
-
Replace ECM.
-
Disconnect Test Box and adapter cable.
-
Re-connect ECM to vehicle wiring harness.
2-Pin Connector
-
Connect LED tester to terminals 1 and 2 of EVAP canister purge regulator valve harness connector.
-
Initiate Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM).

LED tester must blink when valve is activated.
