Torque Converter: Service and Repair

CAUTION:  Hold torque converter tight when installing.

Push torque converter hub through oil seal as far as first stop.

Turn torque converter to inside by applying slight pressure until recess of torque converter hub engages in ATF pump drive and torque converter clearly
slips into place.

Check distance (depth) between torque converter mounting surface and transmission bell housing mating surface.

If torque converter is correctly installed.

Distance is at least 19 mm (0.75 inch)

If torque converter is NOT correctly installed:

-

Distance is approx. 14 mm (0.55 inch)

Freewheel support is not resting against stop
