Drive/Propeller Shaft: Overhaul
Driveshaft with Separable Center Support, through 05.2007
The driveshaft with the separable center support was installed:
‹› On the Audi TT through VIN 8J-8-011 000
‹› On the Audi A3 through and including MY 2007
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
‹› Puller (VW 391)
‹› Pressure Plate (VW 401)
‹› Pressure Plate (VW 402)
‹› Punch (VW 407)
‹› Punch (VW 408A)
‹› Driving Sleeve (VW 244B)
‹› Sleeve Press Tool (VW 522)
‹› Press Block (40-204A)
‹› Hose Clamp Pliers (V.A.G 1275/)
‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331/)
‹› Snap Ring Pliers (VW 161A)
‹› Puller (2 - Kukko 18/0)
‹› Separating Device (3 - Kukko 17/1)
‹› Thrust Piece (40 - 105)
‹› Puller (1 Kukko 20/10)
‹› Stop Plate (T10108/1)
‹› In order to achieve the quietest possible running, only the entire driveshaft was balanced during manufacture. It is not possible to balance the entire
driveshaft or the individual driveshaft tubes with workshop equipment. Therefore, the entire driveshaft must always be replaced when front or rear
driveshaft tubes are damaged.
‹› Do not kink driveshaft, only store and move when fully extended.
‹› Before removing, mark the positions of all parts in relation to each other. Re-install in the same position otherwise imbalance will be excessive, the
bearings could be damaged causing rumbling noises.
