Selector Mechanism, Removing and Installing

Selector mechanism, removing and installing, 02E, 6 Speed Direct Shift A/T, AWD 

Removing 

-

Shift selector lever to position "D".

CAUTION!  Follow steps required when disconnecting battery. 

Note:  The battery is located in the rear compartment, in the spare wheel well.

Disconnect ground strap on battery (in rear compartment) with ignition switched off.

-

Remove selector lever handle.

-

Remove rear center console.

-

Shift selector lever into "P" position.

-

Remove selector mechanism cover.

-

Lift up locking lever - A - and pull off locking cable in direction of arrow. 

Note:  Do not loosen bolt - B -! 

-

Disconnect connector - A - from selector mechanism.

-

Remove 2 nuts - 1 - securing selector mechanism (rear) to body.

-

Remove bolts - 2 -.

-

Lift out selector mechanism.

Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
