‹› By doing this, the valves in the brake master cylinder are closed and the brake fluid reservoir does not run empty.

Connect hose of a bleeder bottle to bleeder screw of the removed rear brake caliper, as well as front brake caliper on same side of the vehicle.

Open both bleeder screws.

Close front bleeder screw.
-
Do not remove brake pedal loading device (V.A.G 1869/2).

Remove brake hose from brake caliper.
Installing
Only push back brake piston when inserting new brake pads. => [ Rear Brake Caliper, Pressing Back Piston ] See: Procedures/Rear Brake

Installation is in reverse order of removal, with special attention to the following:

Install brake pads => [ Rear Brake Pads ] See: Brake Pad/Service and Repair/Rear Brake Pads.

Secure brake caliper housing using new self-locking bolts. Observe tightening specification:

Install brake hose on brake caliper. Note tightening specification:
‹› Ensure brake hose is installed without being twisted or pulled.

After installing a serviced or new brake caliper, parking brake must be adjusted. => [ Parking Brake, Adjusting ] See: Parking Brake
System/Adjustments, After adjusting parking brake, actuate brake pedal first.
