Oil Pressure Sender: Testing and Inspection
Oil Pressure Switch, Checking
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
‹› Oil Pressure Gauge (V.A.G 1342)
‹› Voltage Tester (V.A.G 1527B)
‹› Connector Test Set (V.A.G 1594C)
Requirements
‹› Oil level is correct.
‹› Engine oil temperature approximately 80 °C.

Remove oil pressure switch. Refer to => [ Oil Pressure Switch ] See: Service and Repair.

Install oil pressure switch in the oil pressure gauge (V.A.G 1342).

Install oil pressure gauge (V.A.G 1342) in the hole for the oil pressure switch in the oil filter bracket.

Connect voltage tester (V.A.G 1527B) to B+ and an oil pressure switch connection with lines from the connector test set (V.A.G 1594C).

Connect second oil pressure switch connection to ground.
‹› LED must not light up.

If LED lights up with the engine at standstill, replace oil pressure switch.

Start engine.
‹› Watch the oil pressure gauge and LED when starting the engine because the oil pressure switch switching point may be exceeded when starting.
‹› The LED must illuminate at 1.2 to 1.6 bar.

If LED does not light up, replace oil pressure switch.
