Affected Vehicles
Condition
There are two separate conditions that both occur in vehicles with Bi-xenon, with or without Adaptive Lighting (AFS). The conditions are:
^ One xenon light on either side sporadically flickers or flashes and goes out. When the headlamps are turned off and on again or at ignition cycle, the
headlamps may function properly or exhibit the same behavior.
^ One xenon light on one side fails permanently.
Technical Background
If one xenon light sporadically flickers:
The xenon bulb may have reached its expected lifetime, or the bulb may fail due to harsh driving conditions such as rough roads.
If one xenon light on one side fails permanently:
The headlamp may fail permanently due to hardware issues in the High-intensity Gas Discharge Lamp Control Module.
