unscrew viscous fan when loosening, brace tool 3212 against tool 3197 on the inside

CAUTION 
Left-hand thread - turn clockwise to unscrew.

Note:

For clarity, the fan is shown with the engine removed

-

lift out viscous fan together with shroud

Viscous fan, installing

-

install in reverse order

-

tighten with torque wrench and adapter 3212

^ 37 N-m (27 ft.lb.) with adapter 3212
^ 70 N-m (52 ft.lb.) without adapter 3212
^ when tightening brace tool 3212 against tool 3197 on the outside

Note:
Refer to table for tightening torque with torque wrenches of different length. Measure length of torque wrench from square drive to center of handle.

Viscous fan, checking

-

check for leaks from viscous fan. The back of the clutch housing must be clean and dry.

check that the fan wheel turns freely with the engine switched off. The fan must rotate without noticeable resistance.

-

check axial play axial play must not be more than approx. 15 mm measured at the outside rim of the fan wheel.
