The instrument cluster is the master control unit for all displays.
The instrument cluster has fewer signal inputs than previous instrument clusters. The instrument cluster no
longer serves as the gateway to the bus system.

Integrated heating control or integrated automatic heating/air-conditioning system
The E87 is equipped as standard with the integrated heating control (IHR).
The integrated automatic heating/air-conditioning system (IHKA) is available as special equipment (option 534).
With the IHKA, air-conditioning functions can be set separately for the driver's side and for the passenger side.

Information and communication systems
As on the larger model series, the E87 also has high-quality radios and a monitor (CID, i.e. Central Information
Display).

BMW radios:
In its basic equipment specification, the E87 is supplied without a radio.
(in this case, the vehicle does not have a radio wiring harness.)
The following radios are available as options for the E87.

BMW "Audio" radio (without CD-drive)

BMW "Business" radio (with CD-drive)

BMW "Professional" radio (optionally with CD-drive or MD-drive)
If the BMW "Professional" radio is installed, a MOST bus is also provided.
The BMW "Professional" radio then forms the gateway (= data interface) between the MOST bus and
the K-CAN.

Multi-audio system controller
On the E87, the multi-audio system controller (M-ASK) is installed, for example with the option "Navigation
Business". The menus are displayed in colour on the monitor (6.5 inch).

Car Communication Computer
The Car Communication Computer (CCC) is installed with the following options: " Professional" navigation
system and "Voice recognition system".
Several control units and the drives for CD-ROM, MD-ROM and DVD-ROM are integrated into the CCC.

iDrive, monitor and controller
iDrive is the network of monitor and controller.
iDrive was introduced for the first time on the BMW 7-Series (E65).
iDrive stands for "intelligent driving": All important information appears on the monitor (CID,
i.e. Central Information Display). In addition, many settings (e.g. air-conditioning system) are selected
on the monitor:
