Measuring engine internal pressure (N40 /
N42 / N45 / N45T / N45si / N46 / N46T / N43)

Special tools required:

•

11 9 880

Necessary preliminary tasks:

•

Follow diagnosis instructions for pressure testing.

•

Check engine oil level.

Open oil filler cap.

Insert special tool 11 9 880  hand-tight into oil filler neck opening.

Attach 25 bar pressure sensor (1) to special tool  11 9 880 .

Start engine and run at idle speed.

Different fault profiles as example:

0.97 bar

Ambient pressure.

0.95 bar

Engine internal pressure normal.

If the deviation is significantly greater than -0.04 bar, the engine
ventilation system is faulty.

0.80 bar

Pressure control valve faulty.

If the deviation is significantly greater than -+0.04 bar, the
engine ventilation system is clogged.

1.07 bar

Clogged ventilation system, e.g. frozen, contaminated

or kinked vent line.
