General Data (M40):
An engine (cylinder head) with installed HVC elements (HVC = Hydraulic Valve Clearance Compensation) must not be
inverted for more than 10 minutes.
The HVC elements must always be transported in upright position. Empty HVC elements must not be installed.
After repair work, HVC elements and/or fingers must not chatter during an engine test run: if they do, the engine must
be run at speeds of max. 2000 rpm until the chattering stops.
The following section describes disassembly and repair of the engine in chronological sequence.
The listing of items in the Contents is intended to assist when restarting work after an interruption, and to make it easier
to find individual items. The Contents only describe the direct process of removal and/or installation, and do not
describe the entire scope of each operation.
