Note: 
 Ensure that the same horizontal

filter is maintained. The cap (1) used
here is made of aluminium for heat
protection reasons.

Vehicles with M30 engine:

No special conversions are required on M30 engines as the new environmentally
compatible oil filter simply replaces the current version with the sheet metal skirt, and
has the same dimensions.

To change the environmentally compatible oil filter element on M10 and M20 engines
after the one-off initial installation of the oil filter case, and on M30 engines:

The same procedure as that described in repair instructions from models with M30
engines; tightening torque of oil filter cap: 20 Nm.

Parts: 

Initial fitting on M10 and M20 (with oil filter fitted as shown in Fig. 2 or 3) 
Oil filter complete with plastic cap  and interchangeable element.

Reimbursement: 
As this is a voluntary conversion on the part of the customer of vehicles which are no longer
in series production, BMW AG will not issue any flat rates. Naturally, reimbursement via
warranty/goodwill is not possible. 
It is however advisable to make a "customer-friendly" calculation, to ensure that the
customer's environmental involvement does not turn into financial disappointment.
