Instructions for brake testing on E30 (AWD)
Production period: from volume production launch (from model year 83)
Important!
To prevent the viscous locks from suffering damage, these vehicles must not be run for longer than
60 seconds on single-axle roller dynamometers. This time is divided into separate periods for testing the
brakes on the front and rear axles and testing the parking brake, e.g. periods of 20 seconds each.
The maximum roller speed must not exceed 7.5 km/h!
If the test period of 60 seconds was not enough or the brake test has to be repeated, this may only be conducted after
a period of 30 minutes has passed. Only after this length of time will the viscous locks have cooled down sufficiently.
