Removing and installing or replacing control
unit for Digital Motor Electronics (DME) (M40,
M42, M43)
Follow instructions for removing and installing electronic control
units.
Follow instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery.
Before replacing the control module, always follow the instructions
listed below:

Code control unit.
·
Program control unit.
Caution!
Always read out fault memory with MoDiC or BMW DIS and
print out results.
Switch off ignition.
Release screws.
Fold back cover with wiring harness to one side.
Note:
Control units are located behind battery carrier in engine
compartment.
