Checking ignition coil (M40)
Multimeter Test:
Measure resistance on primary coil
Term. 1/15 = 0.5 k
Ω±
10
%
resistance of secondary coil
Term. 15/4 = 6 k
Ω±
10
%
Inspect cast compound of primary coil carrier for hairline cracks.
Gray material running out at edges of the coil carrier is indication
of a faulty ignition final stage in the DME control unit.
Replace ignition coil.
