Removing and installing cylinder head (M44)
Removing suction-filter housing with air-mass sensor,
refer to 13 71 000
Removing gear-case cover, top,
refer to 11 14 100
Removing all spark plugs,
refer to 12 12 011
Drain coolant from engine block.
Installation:
Replace sealing ring.
Tightening torque,
refer to Technical Data 11 11 5AZ
Removing exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold,
refer to 18 00 020
Removing lower section of manifold,
refer to 11 61 044
Remove the hydraulic chain tensioner,
refer to 11 31 091
Release water hose from rear branch flange.
Disconnect heater feed and return hoses.
Removal
Removal of cylinder head is described separately from installation.
Assembly sequence for removal and installation is different.
