3 Series E36 318tds (M41) SAL
Disconnect plug-in connections on control unit.
Use Special Tools 61 1 473 and 61 11 475 (test leads).
Connect battery to vehicle wiring harness. Connect ammeter
between plug connection on wiring harness (2) and positive
terminal on battery (1) and measure the current intake,
refer to Technical Data
Connector assignment:
Printed on control unit.
Pin No. refers to numbering on control unit.
Pin No. 9 (black-green) = Heater plug for cyl. 1
Pin No. 8 (black-violet) = Heater plug for cyl. 2
Pin No. 2 (black-yellow) = Heater plug for cyl. 3
Pin No. 3 (black-red) = Heater plug for cyl. 4
Caution!
Do not operate glow plugs when removed! It is not possible to
ensure that heat will dissipate correctly from glow plugs!
Danger of injury and fire!
RA Check all glow plugs (M41)
