3 Series E36 323i (M52) COUPE
Form a loop on the internal conductor.
Use a soldering iron to tin-plate the
terminal lug on the aerial angled plug
and the bare internal conductor.
While another employee holds the
cable and connector, use a small
soldering iron (1) (max.
50 W) and suitable soldering tip to
solder the internal conductor to the
centre connection of the aerial angled
plug.
Carefully cover the centre console around the soldering area of the removed radio so that
no soldering spray can enter the inner area.
Move the insulation on the aerial lead a
little towards the soldering point and
ensure that the loop is correctly
positioned. It must not come into
contact with the external metal parts.
Then, using the manual crimping tool
(1), crimp the cable guide and strain
relief element together.
Important:
Prior to crimping, again check that the shield copper mesh is correctly positioned.
-
Then clip the black cap over the aerial angled plug.
-
Check the electrical connection from the internal conductor to the shield. There should
be no electrical connection between the internal conductor and shield.
-
Once the radio is installed, carry out a reception test as described above.
