If the part number of the installed hose is not visible, proceed as follows:
2nd possibility: Visual inspection of the surface characteristics
Correct hose: Lightly corrugated surface, grey-black, matt.

surface characteristics.
Incorrect hose: Smooth surface, jet black, glossy.
Different appearance to the hose illustrated in Figure 1, position 2.
-
If the correct coolant hose is installed, no further action is required.
-
If the incorrect hose is installed, it should be replaced.
The intake noise damper, air mass sensor and bellows should be removed as a single
unit to improve accessibility.
A small quantity of coolant will escape when the hose is removed.
-
Refit any components which have been removed from the vehicle.
-
Check the coolant level in the expansion tank (AGB) and top up if necessary.
When doing this, take the quantity of coolant lost by removing the coolant hose into
account. The cold coolant level should thus be approximately 5 cm above the cold
mark on the AGB.
