3 Series E36 M3 (S50) CONVER
Preload the intake camshaft by rotating the eccentric shaft.
Unscrew all nuts from bearing cover on intake camshaft.
Important!
Do not tilt bearing cover when loosening special tool.
Relieve tension on special tool 11 3 400 and remove.
Remove bearing cover and lift out intake camshaft together with
sprocket wheel.
Note:
Use wire to prevent chain from slipping downwards.
If necessary, remove VANOS gearbox,
refer to 11 36 520 .
Important!
Do not damage timing case.
If necessary, machine open-end wrench accordingly.
Fit open-end wrench on hex of exhaust camshaft.
