Basic throttle setting/exhaust synchronization
(S50 B30)
Important!
Begin setting the CO values at an engine oil temperature of
approx. 40
°
C. As soon as the CO values change
implausibly during the setting procedure, switch off the
engine and allow it to cool down. The time needed for the
setting procedure should not exceed approx. 15 minutes so
as to prevent a temperature-dependent change in the
measured values.
Basic setting of throttles:
Fit fixed-setting push rod (1) to cylinder group 5-6; this push rod
serves as the basis for setting cylinder groups 1-2 and 3-4.
Adjust all push rods to a distance (A) of approx. 62.5 mm and
install.
Inspection:
Insert paper strips between the 3 detent screws and the kinematic
detent points. When correctly adjusted, it should not be possible to
remove any of the paper strips easily.
Allow one or two of the paper strips to be pulled out slightly,
slightly shorten the push rod of the throttle pair at which the paper
strip cannot be pulled out easily.
Set full throttle detent:
Move cable lever (1) to full throttle position.
Check dimension (A) or (B) with a caliper gauge and write down
result. Measurement between throttle valve and center of suction
pipe.
