Exchange part - rear silencer
E36 / S50, S52 / M roadster, M coupé
Complaint:
After exchanging one of the two rear silencers, the tail pipes have different dimensions
(difference approx. 20 mm) between the left and right-hand rear silencer.
Cause:
The rear silencer tail pipe has been shortened by 20 mm.

Manufacturing period: start of series production until January 2001
Procedure:
If a rear silencer has to be replaced for reasons relevant to warranty, the second rear
silencer may also be replaced and reimbursed under warranty in the event of customer
complaint.
Note:
Only the version with the shortened tail pipes is available from the parts sales
department.
Reimbursement for the second rear silencer:
Defect code: 18 12 92 63 00
Warranty type: 1
Warranty stage: 5
Reimbursement for the second rear silencer is limited to
36 months/100,000 km and only
possible until
December 2003.
