Modification of scope of maintenance work, MY 2002
E36/7/S54B32, E46, E46 M3, E39/M57, E53, R50
Situation:
The following scopes of maintenance work and modifications will be introduced in the
current Model Year 2002.
Procedure:
1.
The following model versions are new:
-
E46/5 318td, 320td, M47TU:
Scope of maintenance work as per E46/4 320d M47
(TU => technical update)
-
E46 vehicles with N42 engine
Scope of maintenance work as per E46/5 316ti N42
-
E53 X5 4.6is:
Scope of maintenance work as per E53 X5 4.4i
-
R50 MINI One, MINI Cooper:
Scope of maintenance work as per E46 316i M43 with the following exceptions:
Addition to pre-delivery check:
•
Remove spring blockers
•
Attach a quick-reference guide to the vehicle to the control lever on the
steering column or to the steering wheel rim
Oil service:
•
1st engine oil service after 16,000 km (10,000 miles) due to factory oil filling,
all subsequent oil services as per E46/5
Deletion from oil service:
•
Brake pads: with change at rear: check parking brake.
Addition to inspection I:
•
Change CVT automatic transmission fluid
Addition to inspection II:
•
Replace poly-V-belt

The following scopes remain unchanged:
-
E46 M3, E46/7 M coupé, M roadster with S54B32
Addition to pre-delivery check:
•
Activate engine-speed limitation
Note:
To prevent impermissibly high wear on the engine, the maximum engine
speed is programmed at the factory to be limited to 5,500 rpm until the
vehicle is delivered to the dealer.
This engine-speed limitation is deactivated by the dealer with the DIS tester
during the pre-delivery check.
