M Mobility Systems

Situation:
Spare parts are no longer available for the M Mobility System Mk I (MMS Mk I). Vehicles
with this system requiring spare parts will therefore be converted for the new M Mobility
System Mk II (MMS MK II).
The cost of conversion to the MMS MK II depends on the vehicle and is similar to the
cost of replacing the old sealant bottle.
Replacement of the new sealant bottle following a flat tyre or expiry of the service life is
considerably cheaper when compared to the old MMS Mk I system. In addition to the low
costs, customers benefit greatly from improved user-friendliness and reliability. A weight
reduction of 2 kg in comparison with the MMS Mk I system has also been achieved.
To achieve further cost savings, the same M Mobility System (MMS MK III) which is
used in the E60 (M5) will be installed in the E46 (M3) from September 2004 onwards.
Again, only the sealant bottle will be replaced following a flat tyre or expiry of the service
life.

Procedure:
With the MMS Mk II and MMS Mk III systems, only the sealant bottle will be replaced
following a flat tyre or expiry of the service life.
Following a flat tyre or expiry of the service life, the MMS Mk I system will be replaced by
the MMS Mk II system.
The conversion is carried out on the vehicle at the expense of the customer as follows:

Remove M Mobility System Mk I and hazard warning triangle (M coupé only).

Remove old mount.
