Soft top rear window

Z3 roadster

Complaint:

Plastic rear window in soft top becomes scratched or discoloured after a certain time in
service.

Cause:

Environmental influences such as dust and sunlight, and also the use of an automatic car
wash. Inadequate care could also be the main cause.

Affected vehicles:

All Z3 roadster models

Remedy:

A special plastic window polish is available in the parts and accessories range. 

A small quantity sufficient for a one-off cleaning is provided in the factory with each Z3
roadster and is placed in the vehicle documents.

A soft, lint-free cotton cloth should be used to apply and polish.

Procedure:

Please instruct your customers during the vehicle handover on the importance of regular
care and on the fact that only BMW polish should be used.

Beyond this, you can offer your customers a rear window cleaning as a separate order
when the car is in the workshop.

Note:

This kind of preparation can of course also be used on E30, E36 and Z8
convertible models.

Before exchanging a rear window on warranty, an attempt must be made to remove the
scratches or discoloration using rear window polish.

It is not possible to claim the replacement or cleaning of the rear window on warranty if the
complaint was caused as described.
