Introduction of new fuel filler caps for US models
E36 / Z3E38, E39, E46 US only
Complaint:
An incorrectly sealed fuel filler cap leads to repeated incorrect warnings from the "CHECK
ENGINE" lamp in the instrument cluster. See section "Remedy": newly developed fuel filler
cap with improved sealing characteristics.
After refuelling and two or more engine cold starts, the "CHECK ENGINE" lamp lights up in
the instrument cluster. The following fault codes are stored in the DME fault memory after
just one cold start following refuelling:
M44 with DME M5.1:
