Operating software for navigation system CD "BMW Navigation V17.1"
E38, E39, E46, E53 with navigation system (option 609)
Situation:
Compared to previous V17 operating software, operating software V17.1 for the navigation
system provides improvements in system stability.
Affected
vehicles:
E38, E39, E46, E53 with navigation system (option 609) and Mk3 navigation computer
without installed "Splitscreen software"
(retrofit: part number 65 90 0 140 531)
Manufacturing period:
E38: from September 2000 to July 2001
E39: from September 2000 to August 2001
E46: from June 2000 to August 2001
E53: from October 2000 to September 2001
Procedure:
Update the operating software of the relevant versions of the navigation system using the
new operating software CD V17.1.
Note:
For procedure for programming the navigation computer, please refer to IDC
009/02-1.
Additional information on "working on the navigation system" can be found in the
Repair Instructions.
Note:
Before replacing the navigation computer, it is essential to update the operating
software. Please ensure that before the component is dispatched, the complaint
and repair documentation is fully completed. Navigation computers without the
current software version will be excluded from warranty and returned to the
sender.
