Motorola V3690 mobile phone: sound loss
E38, E39, E46, E53 with complete basic fittings for Motorola V3690 mobile phone

Complaint:
Sound may be lost with the Motorola V3690 mobile phone, i.e. the person making a call
cannot be heard by the person at the other end of the line.
On affected vehicles, the complaint "Complete telephone system shutdown" usually also
occurs. Please work off SI 84 01 01 (668)
"Motorola V3690 mobile phone: system
shutdown".
Cause:
Software error in hands-free charging electronics and in Motorola V3690 mobile phone.
Affected
vehicles:
E38, E39, E46, E53 with complete basic fittings for Motorola V3690 mobile phone (option
632) or basic equipment for installation of mobile phone (option 640) and retrofit
option 632.
Manufacturing period:
E38, E39, E46: June 2000 until February 2001.
E53: September 2000 until February 2001.
Procedure:
In case of customer complaint, perform the following actions:
Check the hands-free charging electronics and replace as necessary.
1.
Remove the hands-free charging electronics.
Please refer to Repair Instructions "Removing and installing / replacing hands-free
charging electronics",
Repair Instructions 84 21 530.
2.
Check the hardware and software status of the hands-free charging electronics. This
is printed on the label on the hands-free charging electronics (please refer to Fig. 1).
