Checking cylinder head for water tightness
(M43 / M43TU)
(cylinder head dismantled)
Seal coolant openings with special tool kit 11 0 310.
Note:
Remove coolant-temperature sensor for DME control unit and
remote thermometer and replace with special tool 11 0 317
(screw plugs).
Immerse cylinder head in a water bath.
Test pressure 4.5 bar
Check cylinder head for escaping air (cracks).
Note:
If necessary, add cleaning agent to water bath.
