Table for spacer rings - engine in installation position (M43TU)

Note:

Only measure backlash with engine in its installation position. 

The bearing clearances of the crankshaft and the balancing shaft (1) could distort the result of the backlash

measurement.

Example:

The 2.25 mm spacer rings are installed and the backlash measurement has produced a mean backlash of 0.170 mm
between crankshaft and balancing shaft (1). 

Remove 2.25 mm spacer rings and install new spacer rings with a thickness of 2.08 mm in order to reduce the
mean backlash to the specified value.

Note:

The following table is only valid if the 2.25 mm spacer rings are installed.
