Safety instructions for removing output
shafts for balancing (E46/316iA, 318iA)
Detach left and right output shafts on final drive,
refer to 33 21 000.
Warning!
Danger of injury!
Observe the following instructions for tying back the output
shaft without fail.
Make sure no persons are standing underneath the car while
the propeller shaft is in operation.
Work instructions for tying back output shafts:
Secure left output shaft (1) with e.g. cable ties (2) to rear axle
carrier so that there is a distance (A) of at least 2 cm to rotating
output flange (3) of final drive.
The components will be damaged if this distance is not
established!
Secure right output shaft (1) with e.g. cable ties (2) to rear axle
carrier so that there is a distance (A) of at least 2 cm to rotating
output flange (3) of final drive.
The components will be damaged if this distance is not
established!
