Removing/replacing knock sensors (N40, N42,
N43, N45, N46)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
•
Read out fault memory of DME control unit
•
Switch off ignition
•
Disconnect battery
•
Remove intake air manifold
Release retaining screws on starter motor.
Installation:
Tightening torque 12 41 1AZ
.
Pull starter motor (2) approx. 3 cm out of transmission mounting
flange and rotate downwards.
Disconnect plug connection (3).
Release and disconnect plug on temperature sensor.
Release screws on both knock sensors (1) and remove knock
sensors (1).
Installation:
Clean contact surface of knock sensors on engine block.
Tightening torque 12 14 3AZ
.
Note:
Check stored fault messages.
Now clear the fault memory.
