Venting cooling system and checking for
water leaks (N42 / N40 / N45 / N46)
Warning!
Danger of scalding!
Open sealing cap only after engine has cooled down.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
•
Add coolant
•
Checking cooling system for water leaks
•
Use only recommended coolant
Important!
An activation of the electr. water pump (ignition and/or engine
on, heating controller to max. temperature) with sealing cap
open will cause air to be drawn into the cooling circuit.
Complete filling cannot be guaranteed.
Open cap on expansion tank.
Fill expansion tank with coolant up to edge.
Perform filling operation slowly.
Close cap on expansion tank.
Set heating controller to maximum temperature. Set fan to low
setting. Run engine for approx. 30 secs. and then flush through
engine cooling circuit by pressing accelerator pedal three to four
times (approx. 4500 to 5000 rpm).
