3 Series E46 320d (M47) SAL
Unfasten screw connection on main bearing.
Remove main bearing cover 1...5.
Lever out crankshaft.
Note:
Bearing caps 1...5 are marked on exhaust side.
Bearing cap 4 is on the crankshaft thrust bearing.
Replace main crankshaft bearing shells.
Installation:
Coat bearing shells with oil.
Install crankshaft.
Fit bearing caps 1...5 (bearing 1 on drive side of camshaft)
so that grooves of bearing shell guide lie on one side.
Align bearing cap precisely.
