Removing and installing/replacing starter
motor (M57, M57TU)
Special tools required:
•

Necessary preliminary tasks:
•
Read fault memory.
•
Switch off ignition
•
Remove underbody protection at front and rear (rear-wheel
drive).
•
Remove underbody protection at centre and rear (all-wheel
drive).
•
Follow instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery
Disconnect battery negative lead from battery and lay to one
side.
Release nut (1) on starter motor.
Installation:
Tightening torque 12 41 4AZ
.
Detach positive lead (2) of auxiliary heater from solenoid switch
on starter motor.
Remove battery positive lead (3) from solenoid switch on starter
motor.
