Connecting-rod bearing play S54

Situation:
To enhance process security in production, the assembly procedure for the connecting rod
on the S54B32 engine has been modified.
In this context, the minimum bearing play for repairs has been changed from 0.03 mm to
0.04 mm, effective retrospectively since start of series production.
Procedure:
If the connecting-rod bolts are unscrewed, the procedure described in Repair Instructions
11 24 571 must be followed.
One of the key changes is that the connecting-rod bolts must not be replaced (in contrast
to all other BMW engines).
However, if this is necessary in exceptional circumstances, the procedure is also described
in the Repair Instructions stated above.
